A small boat

About

I am Xinjiang Lu. I hold a PhD, I co-founded Mozibox, and I run a fleet of AI agents that does most of the engineering for my companies.

We are living through a seismic shift. Machines now write, reason and act, and the ground under work, expertise and care is moving while we stand on it. What I keep returning to is what a life looks like in this age: which parts of a profession survive when a machine can do the rest, what a machine may decide and what it must leave to a person, and what a company becomes when most of its hands are not human. I build on these questions, I write about them here, and I say them out loud when someone asks.

This site is the permanent part: the ideas, written down once each. Talks and the reading shelf keep the current record.

On my name

My given name, Xinjiang, has nothing to do with the region in the far west of China that shares its spelling. The coincidence does have one use: if you have heard the region's name in the news or in a video, you already know how to say mine.

My family name is not quite Lu either. It is Lü, the surname 吕, and the two dots are what most forms, keyboards and boarding passes cannot manage, so it has travelled as Lu for years. Since 15 May 2012 the official romanisation has written it Lyu.
